TURN FROM ALTERNATIVE Birmingham's Ken Johnson Band bills itself as an alternative to alternative, what with electric pop and a hint of soul. He's got all the melody of the likes of John Mayer, only injected with a bit of giddy energy. The band plays tonight at The Loft, where they're paired with show opener Lynette Vantreese. Call her nu-Nashville, as Vantreese's music is more Aimee Mann than Reba McEntire.
